This film was directed by Norman Jewison from
the screenplay by John Patrick Shanley. It stars
Cher, Nicholas Cage, Vincent Gardenia,
Olympia Dukakis, Danny Aiello, Julie Bovasso,
John Mahoney, and Anita Gillette. Oscars went to
Cher, Dukakis and Shanley. The score is by Dick Hyman.
The pivotal Brooklyn location of the bakery
is an actual Italian bakery in Carrol Gardens
and many of the exterior shots are
from the neighborhoods nearby.
